Catherine Prelinger Award

About this program

The Coordinating Council for Women in History (CCWH) awards the Catherine Prelinger Award, a $20,000 scholarship intended to support scholars of excellence whose careers have followed nontraditional or interrupted paths and to advance scholarship or professional work that strengthens women’s history and women’s roles in the historical profession. Funds may support scholarly or professional activities, and the committee specifically encourages applications from independent and non‑academic scholars. Eligible applicants must be CCWH members and hold A.B.D. status or the Ph.D. at the time of application, be actively engaged in historical scholarship (degrees in related fields acceptable), document a nontraditional career trajectory, propose a project that furthers women’s roles in history, and demonstrate contributions to or service on behalf of women in the historical profession.
