CCST Science & Technology Policy Fellowship (2026 class)

About this program

The California Council on Science & Technology (CCST) offers the Science & Technology Policy Fellowship, a one-year placement that embeds PhD-level scientists, engineers, and social scientists in the California State Legislature, state agencies, and the Governor’s offices to deliver science-informed policy support, leadership training, and public service. Now in its 17th year and supported by the State of California and philanthropic partners, the program readies fellows for careers in public policy while providing decision-makers with technical expertise across diverse fields. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in a science, engineering, or social science discipline (examples include economics, sociology, psychology); no citizenship or residency restrictions are specified, applications are open and noted to close in March 2026—see the program webpage and webinar for details.
