About this program

The Foundation Fighting Blindness offers the Clinical Research Fellowship Award (CRFA) to fund one‑year clinical fellowships for physicians investigating orphan inherited retinal degenerations, aiming to train clinician-scientists who provide patient care and advance research toward prevention, treatment, and cures. Awards support up to three post‑residency clinicians at $65,000 each for one year. Applicants must hold an M.D., D.O., O.D., or recognized equivalent foreign degree by the fellowship start and be on track for subspecialty board eligibility upon completion; individuals from underrepresented racial, ethnic, and gender groups and those with disabilities are encouraged to apply, and applications are submitted via the Foundation’s online portal with program guidelines available for download.
