Community Diversity Fellowship

About this program

The American Psychiatric Association Foundation offers the Community Diversity Fellowship, a one-year program providing professional development, mentorship, leadership training, and a community mental health field placement of up to 15 hours per month to improve culturally competent psychiatric care for minority and vulnerable populations. Fellows may also attend APA events and participate in APA/APAF governance activities. Applicants must be APA members, be at least PGY-2 in an accredited U.S. or Canadian psychiatry residency with one year of training remaining, and maintain residency good standing; applicants from diverse backgrounds and international medical graduates are welcome. Applications require a curriculum vitae, 500-word personal statement, and three psychiatrist references, including a training director recommendation, and are due March 15, 2027.
