Diversity Leadership Fellowship

About this program

Funded by the American Psychiatric Association Foundation, the Diversity Leadership Fellowship supports psychiatry residents committed to culturally competent, evidence-based mental health and substance-use services for minority and vulnerable populations. The two-year fellowship provides sponsorship for APA meetings, leadership development, governance experience, mentorship, and professional networking, with up to 20 awards annually pending funding.

Applicants must be APA members and at least PGY-2 in an accredited U.S. or Canadian psychiatry residency program with two years of training remaining; international medical graduates and non-U.S. citizens or residents are eligible. Applications require a CV, a 600-word personal statement, and three psychiatrist references, including one from a training director or department chair; the deadline is March 15, 2027.
