Dooley Distinguished Research Fellowships (Georgia Historical Society)

About this program

The Georgia Historical Society offers the Dooley Distinguished Research Fellowships to support on-site, intensive research in its Research Center collections, providing access to manuscripts, photographs, architectural drawings, books, maps, portraits, and artifacts and awarding up to $5,000 per fellow with 1–5 fellows selected each cycle. Fellowships fund scholars from outside the Savannah area engaged in graduate-level (doctoral candidates), postdoctoral, or independent research whose projects will directly rely on GHS holdings and lead to outcomes such as a dissertation, book, article, chapter, conference paper, or documentary. Applicants must submit an online application including a project proposal (up to four pages) specifying the GHS materials to be consulted, a CV, and two confidential letters of recommendation, and must demonstrate how GHS collections are essential to the project’s progress and completion.
