Folger Long-term Scholarly Fellowship (2026–2027)

The Folger Institute offers Long‑term Scholarly Fellowships of $70,000 for the nine‑month 2026–2027 academic year (about $7,777/month) to support full‑time research and writing that draw on the Folger Library’s collections and programs, with up to three months of the fellowship permitted as virtual time. Applications open September 15 and are due December 15 (11:59 pm ET); awards are intended to cover travel, housing, and living expenses, and residential fellows may opt for Folger housing and must follow current public‑health/COVID‑19 policies. Applicants must hold a terminal degree and submit via the online portal a 250‑word abstract, a 1,500‑word project description (including a plan and justification for any virtual months), a two‑page CV, a one‑ to two‑page list of primary sources to consult onsite, and one letter of recommendation (strongly encouraged but not strictly required).
