FSC-LEF Foundation Fellowship for Boston-area nonfiction filmmakers

Harvard’s Film Study Center (FSC), jointly with the LEF Foundation, offers the annual FSC‑LEF Fellowship to one Boston‑area nonfiction filmmaker, providing a $15,000 grant, access to FSC production and post‑production equipment (including 16mm support), and participation in the FSC community through twice‑monthly work‑in‑progress screenings, workshops, and other activities. Fellows are expected to regularly attend and present material at WIP screenings and engage with FSC programming during the academic year. Applicants must reside within 75 miles driving distance of Cambridge, MA; be the director (or a co‑director team in which all members meet eligibility); have had no Harvard affiliation for two years prior and none during the fellowship; and not be enrolled in an undergraduate or master’s program during the fellowship year. Proposed projects must be nonfiction or experimental/hybrid moving‑image works intended for cinema exhibition, be in production or post‑production for most of the fellowship year, include one prior completed directorial work, and have a nonprofit fiscal sponsor in place by the start date; commercial, work‑for‑hire, episodic, multi‑channel/installation, or inappropriately staged projects are ineligible.
