Grass Fellowship (Marine Biological Laboratory)

About this program

Grass Fellowships, supported by the Grass Foundation and hosted at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, fund investigator-designed independent neuroscience projects across neurophysiology, biophysics, neuroethology, neuroanatomy, neuropharmacology, systems and computational neuroscience, and related areas. The 14-week summer fellowships provide laboratory space, animals, equipment and supplies, housing for the investigator and family, a daily meal allowance, round-trip travel, and integration into the Grass Lab seminar and mentoring program. Eligible applicants are early-career investigators (late-stage predoctoral trainees and beyond) with a demonstrated commitment to a research career; international applicants must hold a valid visa for the fellowship period. Approximately 7–10 fellowships are awarded annually, with selection based on scientific merit, independence, and the applicant’s ability to present and organize pertinent information.
