About this program
The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation awards the annual Guggenheim Fellowship—about 190 fellowships each year—to individuals of exceptional achievement in the arts, sciences, and humanities. The 2026 United States and Canada competition is closed; the 2027 competition will open for applications in late summer 2026. Prospective applicants must register and create an account on the Foundation’s application portal (returning applicants may reuse a 2025 account) and submit materials per the Foundation’s instructions. Eligibility pertains to the United States and Canada competition; applicants should consult the Foundation for full eligibility and selection criteria.
