Hartwell Foundation Biomedical Research Fellowships

About this program

The Hartwell Foundation offers Biomedical Research Fellowships providing two years of support at $50,000 direct cost per year to U.S. citizens for postdoctoral training in early-stage, innovative biomedical research—particularly projects with the potential to benefit children—conducted at selected qualifying U.S. research institutions. Each year the Foundation designates Top Ten Centers of Biomedical Research; participating institutions hold internal competitions to nominate principal investigators for Individual Awards, and for each Individual Award the institution receives one Hartwell Fellowship to designate to a postdoctoral researcher. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens who hold a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate and are in the early stages of their research careers; projects should be cutting-edge, not yet supported by significant external funding, and the fellow must be formally designated by the sponsoring institution.
