The Heising-Simons Foundation's 51 Pegasi b Fellowship (established 2017) funds postdoctoral theoretical, observational, and experimental research in planetary astronomy, supporting independent projects that advance understanding of planetary system formation, evolution, and detection technologies. Fellows receive up to $450,000 over three years (with the option to apply for a fourth year), mentorship from an established faculty member at a host institution, and participate in an annual summit to build professional networks. Applicants must be postdoctoral researchers proposing independent planetary-astronomy research and affiliated with a host institution/faculty mentor; candidates from backgrounds underrepresented in the field are explicitly encouraged to apply.
