Hematology Inclusion Pathway (HIP)

About this program

The American Society of Hematology (ASH) offers the Hematology Inclusion Pathway (HIP), a 13‑year longitudinal program providing multiple awards—research grants, honoraria, mentor matching, and faculty development—to build a diverse pipeline in hematology from medical students through mid‑career professionals and to advance hematology research, training, and care access. Eligible applicants include medical students; residents in internal medicine, pathology, or pediatrics; doctoral students in years 1–3; first‑ or second‑year fellows; and medical faculty for the ASH‑AIMFD award, with most awards requiring supervised, mentored research. HIP features a Graduate Student Abstract Achievement honorarium, 2–3‑year fellow research awards, and a Mentor Matching service for trainees without mentors; ASH has increased its commitment by $9 million to add 600+ awards (total investment >$20 million for 2025–26).
