About this program

Hagley Museum and Library funds the Henry Belin du Pont Research Grants to support scholars conducting advanced research that relies on Hagley’s library, archival, pictorial, and artifact collections and to fund residencies for close use of those materials. Grants provide stipends for up to eight weeks (pro-rated at $400/week for recipients residing more than 50 miles from Hagley and $200/week for those within 50 miles) and offer low-cost on-site housing; recipients must undertake a residency, participate in seminars, noon colloquia, lectures and other public programs, and submit a research report within one month of the residency’s end. Eligible applicants are scholars with projects that engage existing scholarship and require Hagley collections; applications must be submitted as a single PDF via the online link and include a 150-word abstract, CV, a project description (max 1,000 words), and a 500-word summary of Hagley materials to be consulted, plus the number of weeks requested. Application deadlines are March 31, June 30, and October 31 (annual rounds), and applicants are strongly encouraged to consult Hagley staff prior to submission (contact: Dr. Roger Horowitz, rhorowitz@hagley.org).
