Heritage Excavation Fellowships

About this program

The American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR) funds Heritage Excavation Fellowships through donations from Heritage Members to support participation in ASOR‑affiliated archaeological projects; fellowships may be donor‑designated for specific individuals or allocated by a selection committee. Applicants must be ASOR members or enrolled at an ASOR‑member institution, and excavation directors may apply on behalf of their projects; individuals should include the dig director’s contact and are encouraged to use ASOR’s uniform application when applying to multiple ASOR fellowships. Recipients must submit a 250–350 word field report and three high‑resolution site photos by the post‑season deadline, sign a liability waiver and rights release for ASOR publications, and may use award funds only for allowable direct expenses (no overhead).
