HESI THRIVE Grant Program

About this program

Health and Environmental Sciences Institute (HESI) is soliciting Letters of Intent for its THRIVE grant program to provide seed funding for investigators to generate preliminary data and test hypotheses that support future NIH or other major-funder applications. Awards cover direct costs only, typically US$20,000–$40,000 (not to exceed US$50,000) for projects up to 24 months, with 75% disbursed after signed award agreement and required IRB/IACUC approvals and the remaining 25% released upon completion of study milestones. Eligible applicants are established investigators (M.D., Ph.D., D.V.M. or equivalent) or trainees applying with a qualifying principal investigator, must hold an accredited institutional appointment and have peer‑reviewed publications, and the program is open internationally. Awardees must complete the work within 24 months, submit a 12‑month progress update and final report, and participate in the HESI THRIVE annual research forum; applications are submitted via ProposalCentral.
