Independent Practitioner Fellowship

About this program

HumanitiesDC’s Independent Practitioner Fellowship supports independent public humanities practitioners whose work strengthens and enriches the Washington, DC humanities community, awarding $10,000 disbursed monthly over a 10-month fellowship and providing monthly cohort professional development, peer support, opportunities to contribute to HumanitiesDC programs, and a culminating showcase. Applicants should be independently pursuing humanities-based projects that engage DC audiences and may include individuals who lack conventional humanities career pathways. The program emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion and strongly encourages applicants who identify as Black, Latino/a/x, or other people of color; selection is based on qualifications and fit with the fellowship’s goals.
