About this program

The International Network for Orofacial Pain and Related Disorders Methodology, in partnership with Quintessence Publishing and the Journal of Oral & Facial Pain and Headache, offers awards recognizing outstanding clinical or translational research abstracts and projects submitted to the IADR General Session & Exhibition. Awards include $500 for the Samuel F. Dworkin Predoctoral Award and $1,000 for the Barry J. Sessle Postdoctoral Award, with applications open August 3, 2026, through January 26, 2027. Eligible applicants include current students in qualifying doctoral or professional degree programs and researchers within five years of completing a higher doctoral degree who are no longer enrolled. Research must address orofacial pain and related conditions and demonstrate clinical relevance or translational impact; basic or laboratory research outside these areas is ineligible.
