IRRF Postdoctoral Scholar Awards

About this program

The International Retinal Research Foundation (IRRF) offers three named Postdoctoral Scholar Awards annually providing $35,000 in one-year salary and research support to postdoctoral scholars preparing for independent research focused on diseases of the macula or peripheral retina. Applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent, have no more than three years of postdoctoral training at the time of application, be training at a U.S. nonprofit research institution (excluding NIH), and be sponsored by a faculty mentor conducting vision research with a required letter of support. Awards are administered to the recipient’s institution (no indirect costs allowed), must be spent within 12 months, require institutional approvals (IRB/IACUC) before funds are released, and recipients must submit final financial and scientific reports after the award period.
