Jeanne Spurlock Congressional Fellowship

About this program

Funded by the American Psychiatric Association Foundation, the Jeanne Spurlock Congressional Fellowship supports two psychiatry residents or early-career psychiatrists with demonstrated interests in child and/or minority mental health advocacy. Fellows receive $100,000, moving expenses, and a 10-month placement in a congressional or Senate office in Washington, D.C., from August 1, 2027, through June 30, 2028. Applicants must be APA members, U.S. citizens or permanent residents, current residents or psychiatrists within seven years of completing residency, and interested in federal advocacy and the APA Council on Advocacy and Government Relations. Applications require an online form, CV, one-page personal statement, and three recommendation letters, and are due March 15, 2027.
