Jeanne Spurlock Congressional Fellowship

About this program

Funded by the American Psychiatric Association Foundation, the Jeanne Spurlock Congressional Fellowship supports two psychiatry residents or early-career psychiatrists annually in a 10-month placement with a congressional or Senate office. Fellows receive $100,000 in stipend, housing, health insurance, and moving support while gaining experience in federal health policy and mental health advocacy. Applicants must be APA members, U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and residents or psychiatrists within seven years of completing residency with an interest in child and/or minority mental health advocacy. Applications require a CV, personal statement, and three recommendation letters and are due March 15, 2027, for the August 2027–June 2028 term.
