Khaled al-Asaad Memorial Fellowship

About this program

The Archaeological Institute of America offers two annual Khaled al-Asaad Memorial Fellowships, each providing a $4,000 stipend to foreign scholars researching the ancient archaeology of Syria, Iraq, Turkey, or Egypt to attend the AIA Annual Meeting and present their work. Applicants must first submit an abstract to the Annual Meeting by the March deadline, indicate their fellowship interest, and, if accepted, complete a supplemental application by June 8. Preference is given to strong candidates from Syria, Iraq, or Turkey, particularly those conducting projects in Syria.
