Kress Conservation Fellowships

Samuel H. Kress Foundation, administered through the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation (FAIC), awards Kress Conservation Fellowships that provide competitive grants to museums and conservation facilities to fund 9–12 month post‑graduate, supervised internships in the conservation and technical study of paintings, objects, textiles, antiquities, photographs, prints and drawings, books and manuscripts, and furniture. Grant funds must be used solely for the fellow’s stipend (payroll taxes permitted); other benefits, travel, education reimbursement, and indirect costs are the responsibility of the host institution, and hosts must submit an interim or final report the September following the award. Applications must be submitted by the sponsoring museum or conservation facility via FAIC’s online portal; fellows are expected to have completed a master’s degree in conservation before beginning and hosts may identify the candidate in advance or recruit subsequently. Applications are due annually on January 22.
