Mentoring Team for the Career Development Award

About this program

The American Heart Association requires Career Development Award applicants to assemble a mentoring team that provides research supervision, career guidance, scholarship oversight, and support for progression toward independence. The team must include a committed primary mentor and secondary mentor, with up to two additional mentors permitted; at least one mentor must be from outside the applicant’s institution or department, and one should support future grant-writing development. Mentors must demonstrate successful mentoring of early-career investigators, research and academic accomplishments, relevant expertise, and sufficient time, resources, and facilities to support the applicant. Required materials include training plans, trainee lists, NIH biosketches/bibliographies, and mentor letters, submitted as separate PDF files within specified page limits and formatting requirements.
