Meredith C. Thomas Memorial Fellowship — TMA 2025 Request for Research Proposals

About this program

The Myositis Association (TMA) is soliciting letters of intent for the Meredith C. Thomas Memorial Fellowship to fund innovative basic, translational, and clinical research on myositis causes, pathophysiology, diagnosis, prevention, treatments, and related complications. Applicants begin with a one‑page LOI (cover letter with administrative details, three‑paragraph project description, NIH‑format biosketches for applicant and mentor, targeted research area, disclosure of potential reviewer conflicts, and a plain‑language summary); a subset will be invited to submit a full application (≤12 pages); LOI due Spring 2026, full application due May 2026, awards notified September 2026, and funding to begin after November 2026. Qualified investigators and clinicians (U.S. and international) may apply, but award funds must be administered through an accredited medical school, university, or research institute and the PI must demonstrate appropriate subject‑matter expertise. Institutional IRB/IACUC approvals and IND documentation (if applicable) are required prior to funding, and awardees must comply with annual progress reporting, final institutional expenditure reporting, presentations at TMA meetings, and public dissemination with TMA acknowledgement.
