The National Rural Health Association offers a Board of Trustees Certification Program for rural hospital board members that combines self‑guided and group learning (1–1.5 hours/week) covering new member orientation, board leadership and responsibilities, healthcare finance, community health, strategic planning, and quality and patient safety. The next cohort begins 20 January 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern; tuition is $2,000 with payment plans available, and registration is accepted on an ongoing basis via an online enrollment form—registrations after deadlines are rolled into the next course cycle. Eligibility is limited to board members of rural hospitals nationwide.
