NRHA Rural Hospital CNO Certification Program

About this program

The Center for Rural Health Leadership (National Rural Health Association) offers a leadership and certification program for current and aspiring Chief Nursing Officers (CNOs) of rural hospitals designed to strengthen leadership, operational, financial, population health, and clinical competencies. The curriculum covers interpersonal, intrapersonal, organizational and community leadership; operations including data analytics, predictive analysis, board relations, strategic planning and lean management; budgeting and cost report basics; population health; and clinical topics such as physician engagement and quality. Eligible applicants are current rural hospital CNOs and individuals preparing to become rural CNOs across the U.S. and U.S. Territories, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis via the program website.
