Oral History Project Grant

About this program

Hagley Library’s Oral History Office offers annual grants of up to $5,000 to support oral history projects whose interviews will be accessioned into Hagley’s permanent collection and preserved for public access. Eligible applicants are graduate students (thesis/dissertation) and more advanced scholars (books or other scholarly projects) using oral history as a principal source, with priority for projects on the interconnected histories of American business, technology, and society and for underrepresented voices. Funds may reimburse travel and equipment (not stipends); all interviews must be conducted in English, follow Oral History Association and Hagley technical standards, and use Hagley’s release form to permit eventual public access. Applications are due June 1 and must include a project title and 150-word abstract, CV, a 1,000-word project description, list of potential interviewees, timetable, and budget; applicants are encouraged to consult Hagley’s Oral History Program Manager before applying.
