Philip Wrightson Fellowship — postdoctoral support for neurological research

About this program

The Neurological Foundation’s Philip Wrightson Fellowship provides personal postdoctoral salary support (up to two years’ salary and associated costs, with total research FTE capped at 200% allowing a maximum 2.5‑year term if funded at 80% FTE) for outstanding researchers undertaking neurological research in New Zealand or internationally; recipients may also apply for travel grants up to NZD 4,500. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents with a PhD awarded more than two and less than five years before the closing date (exceptions considered for significant time away from research), must not have previously received a fellowship for the proposed project, and New Zealand‑based fellowships must include significant international collaboration; research FTE must be at least 80% each funded year. Applications are submitted via the host institution through the Foundation’s grants system and are assessed by external reviewers and Foundation committees (selected applicants are interviewed); one resubmission of an unsuccessful application is allowed and successful fellows may not reapply.
