Pilot Research Grant

About this program

The SIR Foundation’s Pilot Research Grant supports one-year projects that advance interventional radiology and patient care by addressing a specific hypothesis and generating preliminary data for future national peer-reviewed applications. Awards provide up to $35,000 and do not cover institutional indirect costs, construction, or secretarial/office expenses. Applicants must be current Society of Interventional Radiology members and full-time interventional radiology faculty or postdoctorates with an MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent degree at U.S. or Canadian educational institutions; citizenship or permanent residency in the United States or Canada is required, with additional documentation for permanent residents and visa holders. Proposal development and pre-review deadlines are June 30 and September 20, 2026, respectively, and the final application is due January 15, 2027, by 5 p.m. ET.
