Points North Fellowship

About this program

The Points North Fellowship, run by the Points North Institute with support from the deNovo Initiative, is an immersive cohort program that selects up to six teams of early- to mid-career filmmakers worldwide to advance feature-length nonfiction documentaries through mentorship, workshops and a public Points North Pitch at the Camden International Film Festival. Fellows receive round-trip travel to Maine, CIFF All Access passes, six nights’ accommodation, intensive in-person development sessions and follow-up virtual 1:1 industry meetings to help secure partners, funding and distribution. Open to applicants of any nationality, projects must be feature-length (60+ minutes) and generally in production or post-production with a clear artistic vision and a 3–4 minute edited work sample/trailer; the program does not support short films, fiction, educational/advocacy pieces, or films commissioned by NGOs or brands. The 2026 in-person residency is anticipated Sept 14–20 (with subsequent virtual meetings) and applicants must be available to attend the festival activities in Maine.
