Postgraduate & Post-Doctoral SLAS Conference Grants

The Society for Latin American Studies (SLAS) is offering up to 15 bursaries of £500 each to postgraduate and post‑doctoral members presenting papers to help cover conference registration and other in‑person attendance costs for the SLAS Annual Conference. Priority is given to applicants with no institutional support or in precarious employment; SLAS encourages inclusion of care‑related costs in budgets and consideration of sustainable travel. Applicants must be SLAS members presenting a paper: postgraduate applicants must be based at a UK higher‑education institution (any nationality), while post‑doctoral applicants must have been awarded their PhD within the last four years (exceptions for prolonged precarious employment may be considered), normally be UK‑based, and should not hold full‑time permanent academic posts. A referee’s statement is required (referees email completed forms to the SLAS Secretary), awardees must register to attend both conference days, and grants are paid by bank transfer to UK accounts; late applications will not be considered.
