Psychiatric Research Fellowship

About this program

Funded by the APA Foundation, the Psychiatric Research Fellowship supports one early-career psychiatrist in designing and conducting health services or policy research using national APA data, with awards of up to $45,000 annually for July 1, 2027–June 30, 2029. Fellows receive mentorship, data access, and opportunities to present findings at APA meetings. Applicants must be APA members with an M.D. or D.O., have completed or be completing general or child psychiatry residency in an accredited U.S. or Canadian program, and dedicate at least 50% protected time to research. Applications must be submitted online by March 15, 2027, and nominees must be the sole candidate from their residency program and endorsed by the department chair.
