Psychiatric Research Fellowship

About this program

The APA Foundation’s Psychiatric Research Fellowship supports an early-career psychiatrist in designing and conducting health services or policy research using national data housed within the APA Division of Research. The two-year fellowship provides up to $45,000 annually, research mentorship, data access, professional development, and opportunities to present findings at APA meetings. Applicants must be APA members with an M.D. or D.O., have completed or be completing general or child psychiatry residency in an accredited U.S. or Canadian program, and dedicate at least 50% protected time to research. Applications require department-chair nomination, a CV, and statements describing career goals, research objectives, methods, timeline, and mentorship; the deadline is March 15, 2027.
