Public Psychiatry Fellowship

About this program

Funded by the APA Foundation, the Public Psychiatry Fellowship supports outstanding psychiatry residents pursuing careers and leadership roles in public and community psychiatry. The two-year program offers participation in APA meetings, leadership-development activities, governance and committee service, workshop planning, and networking with public psychiatry leaders; up to 20 fellows may be selected annually, pending funding.

Applicants must be APA members enrolled at least as PGY-1 or PGY-2 in an accredited U.S. or Canadian psychiatry residency program with two years of training remaining and demonstrate a strong commitment to public psychiatry and underserved populations. Applications require a curriculum vitae, 500-word personal statement, and three psychiatrist references, including one from the training director or department chair; the deadline is March 15, 2027.
