Public Psychiatry Fellowship

About this program

Funded by the American Psychiatric Association Foundation, the Public Psychiatry Fellowship supports up to 20 psychiatry residents annually in developing leadership careers in public and community psychiatry through APA meetings, governance participation, networking, and workshop planning. The two-year fellowship runs from July 1, 2027, through June 30, 2029, with applications due March 15, 2027. Applicants must be APA members, be at least PGY-1 or PGY-2 in an accredited U.S. or Canadian psychiatry residency with two years of training remaining, and demonstrate a strong commitment to public psychiatry and underserved populations. Applications require a CV, 500-word personal statement, and three psychiatrist references, including one from a training director or department chair.
