Responsible Computing Challenge funding opportunity

About this program

The Mozilla Foundation and Mellon Foundation’s Responsible Computing Challenge will award grants of up to $125,000 per U.S. institution over two years to support innovative, interdisciplinary undergraduate curricula connecting computer science and STEM with the humanities and social sciences. Projects should integrate socially responsible and critical computing across existing curricula, engage students and local community organizations, and contribute to an open-licensed community of practice. Eligible applicants are accredited U.S. higher education institutions with faculty-led teams; standalone ethics courses, projects primarily serving non-undergraduates, and proposals without open licensing are ineligible. Up to ten institutions are expected to be funded in 2026.
