Richard A. Shaw Fund - grants for history, natural sciences, outdoor education, and animal programs

About this program

The Richard A. Shaw Fund, administered by the Omaha Community Foundation, provides up to $3,500 annually (divided among a maximum of two grants) to support public school programs in history, natural sciences, and outdoor education or public 501(c)(3) nonprofits that benefit animals, with preference for equine therapy; applications are submitted online each year June 1–July 15 and awards are announced by email in September. Grant funds must be used for programming or project expenses and may not support general operating costs. Eligible applicants are public schools serving students ages 5–18 or public nonprofit animal organizations located in the Omaha metropolitan area (Douglas, Sarpy, or Pottawattamie counties); religiously affiliated and private schools are ineligible. Applicants must affirm nondiscriminatory hiring and service policies.
