The SAH | Places | Graham Foundation Prize on Race and the Built Environment, offered jointly by the Society of Architectural Historians, Places Journal, and the Graham Foundation, funds the production of innovative public scholarship that examines race, architecture, and the built environment. The award supports research and public-facing outputs—recent recipients have received a $5,000 honorarium to support archival research and travel—and culminates in publication in Places and a lecture presented by SAH and the Graham Foundation. Eligible applicants are scholars or practitioners proposing a substantial, original public‑scholarship project on race and the built environment that is suitable for publication in Places and public presentation.
