SBN Welcome Initiative Award

About this program

The Society for Behavioral Neuroendocrinology (SBN) offers the SBN Welcome Initiative Award to cover one-year SBN membership and a registration waiver to attend the SBN 2025 Annual Meeting in Vancouver for new, first-time SBN members from historically invisible or marginalized backgrounds. Eligible applicants are undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers engaged in research who are first-time SBN members and who identify as historically marginalized or underrepresented in the sciences/behavioral neuroendocrinology. Applications require a short paragraph (≤400 words) stating career stage and institution, confirmation of first-time SBN membership, interests and long-term commitment to behavioral neuroendocrinology, how the applicant identifies as marginalized/underrepresented, and how the award would address financial need; submitting an abstract to the meeting is encouraged but not required. Awardees must attend all sessions (including the OA Keynote), participate in the OA social, may be featured on social media, and must submit a written reflection after the conference; submissions are currently closed and no deadline is provided.
