Science of Human Appearance Career Development Award

The Dermatology Foundation's Science of Human Appearance Career Development Award provides annual salary support for individuals pursuing career development in research on the cell and molecular mechanisms of altered human skin appearance and mechanism-of-action studies of therapeutic interventions, with emphasis on aging- and environment-related changes. Funding supports hypothesis-driven laboratory or biophysical studies (not clinical trials) of processes such as hyper-/hypo-pigmentation, photoaging, or effects of devices, peels, fillers, retinoids, antioxidants and other topical or systemic agents, but is not suitable for skin cancer or actinic keratosis research. Applicants must conduct research in the U.S. under the sponsorship of an ACGME-accredited dermatology department/division, meet the Foundation’s general eligibility criteria, commit sufficient protected time to complete the project, and present a strong mentorship and career development plan; applicants from minority and underserved populations are encouraged to apply.
