Senior Research Fellowship

About this program

The Neurological Foundation's Senior Research Fellowship supports outstanding early‑career/postdoctoral researchers at New Zealand institutions working on central and peripheral nervous system disorders, providing up to two years' salary support (plus ACC/superannuation), an economy return airfare to New Zealand if required, and post‑award travel grants up to NZD 4,500. Research FTE may be spread beyond two years if maintained at ≥60% each year (total FTE ≤200%); the Foundation will not fund equipment, institutional overheads, business‑class travel, or salaries already provided by the host institution. Eligible applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents with a PhD (date requirements met) awarded 5–10 years before the closing date—extensions for significant career breaks may be considered—be hosted at a New Zealand institution, not be funded elsewhere for the proposed project, and must apply via their Host Institution through the Neurological Foundation Grants Management System with required CVs, mentor letter, PhD evidence and project documentation; Round A normally closes 18 March with outcomes advised in early July.
