Small Project Grants (Neurological Foundation)

About this program

Neurological Foundation Small Project Grants provide up to NZD 20,000 (maximum term three years) to support small-scale neurological research, pilot studies or shared equipment for projects based in New Zealand. Funding can cover working expenses, equipment and salaries for postdoctoral fellows, research assistants and technicians, and is intended for stand‑alone questions, complementary subprojects or preparatory work for larger studies. Eligible applicants include PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, clinicians and academics; applications must be submitted to and forwarded by the applicant’s Host Institution via the Foundation’s grants portal, and investigators may generally only be named on one application per round. The Foundation will not fund completion of existing projects, salaries for permanently salaried staff, institutional overheads or travel; deadlines are 1 April and 1 September each year (next working day if on a weekend/holiday), one resubmission of an unsuccessful application is permitted, and specified supporting documents and NZD budgets excluding GST are required.
