SNMMI Medical & Science Student Research Grants

About this program

The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) funds Medical & Science Student Research Grants that provide a $5,000 stipend for a 10‑week full‑time research project in molecular imaging or targeted radionuclide therapy, supporting projects from basic and clinical research to AI, informatics, device/drug development, and quality improvement. Applicants must be full‑time students at accredited North American schools and carry out the project in a molecular imaging or nuclear medicine department at a North American medical institution, with at least one mentor in molecular imaging and a scientific advisor or co‑investigator who is a dues‑paying SNMMI member. Applicants and PIs may not be employed by for‑profit radiologic or nuclear medicine companies, applicants may not have been PI on grants/contracts totaling more than $60,000 in a single year, and preference is given to those without prior experience in the field. Applications open October 2025, institutions are notified of awards by March 1, and the $5,000 stipend is intended to secure the recipient’s time and may not be used for other purposes.
