The Robert Machemer, MD/IRRF Fellowship

About this program

International Retinal Research Foundation (IRRF) administers the Robert Machemer, MD/IRRF Fellowship, an annual award created in partnership with the Robert Machemer Foundation to support the transition of a vitreoretinal surgical fellow into independent research that improves understanding and treatment of vitreoretinal diseases. The IRRF initially provided $100,000 in co-funding and now continues the Fellowship as an annual IRRF Award. Eligible applicants are individuals who have completed vitreoretinal training and plan to pursue research in the vitreoretinal field. Awardees are selected by the IRRF Director and Co‑Director of Research Funding and require full IRRF Board approval; application guidelines and forms are available on the IRRF website.
