Visiting Fellows Program

About this program

The International Forum for Democratic Studies at the National Endowment for Democracy offers unfunded Visiting Fellowships for scholars and practitioners to conduct democracy-related research and writing in residence for three to ten months. Fellows may use the Forum’s Democracy Resource Center, library, and office facilities and participate in events, but no stipend or travel support is provided. Applicants must submit a 5–10 page double-spaced project description (addressing significance, fit with the applicant’s background, and the benefit of a Washington, D.C. residency), preferred dates and duration, a current CV, and two reference letters (sent directly); applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and should be submitted at least six months before the proposed start date to fellowships@ned.org.
