Wilhelmina Holder Student Assistance Emergency Fund

About this program

The Wilhelmina Holder Student Assistance Emergency Fund, established in 2023 and sustained by Newark community donors in honor of local education advocate Wilhelmina Holder, provides short-term emergency grants to Newark residents enrolled in postsecondary programs to cover costs not met by financial aid (e.g., books, fees, transportation, food, and other unexpected expenses). Applicants must reside in Newark, be currently enrolled in a college, university, or certification program, and demonstrate documented financial need; awards are available up to $5,000. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with awards issued quarterly (January, May, August, November); to apply or donate, complete the fund application or contact Lydia Gracey at lgracey@cfnj.org.
