William B. Wisdom Grants in Aid of Research

About this program

The Thomas Wolfe Society, funded by Adelaide Wisdom Benjamin, offers the William B. Wisdom Grants in Aid of Research to support travel and living expenses (awards up to $1,000) for scholars and students conducting research on Thomas Wolfe using the William B. Wisdom Collection at Harvard’s Houghton Library, with consideration for use of the Thomas Wolfe Collection at UNC–Chapel Hill. Applicants—especially those working on PhD dissertations—must submit materials in triplicate including a description of the proposed research, an estimate of expenses, and a CV with a list of publications; awards are announced annually (June 1). Approved recipients must submit a final report at the following Thomas Wolfe Society meeting and provide two copies of any resulting publication.
